This unit covers lesson materials and goes in specifically into course books. It explains the difference between authentic and created materials. Where authentic materials are anything that native speakers read or hear, which may be more interesting, but are difficult for beginner students. Created materials are made to supplement materials from a course book and are catered to the level of beginner students. The course explains how course books have mixed opinions by teachers. They carry advantages such as having a designed syllabus, being more stream lined and efficient, and provides security to both the student and teacher. On the other hand, they may not cater to a specific group of students, as they are made for a general student audience. They also can make teachers more dependant on it, therefore being more lazy towards their teaching methods.
