This lesson provided useful information on how to balance a syllabus with course book material so that the classroom stays varied but still efficiently reinforces the lesson and language. There is a lot to consider when introducing a course book to a group of students, including how suitable it is for their language level, does it provide a progression of difficulty, and is it relevant and interesting to the students. This unit brings up an excellent point on how to be careful that the course book and materials do not become a crutch for the teacher and allow them to be lazy with their lessons. The course book should be a supplement to what the teacher is already teaching, and if used wisely it can be a useful aid in teaching English. As a teacher, I should choose course books and materials carefully to ensure that they are suitable as well as flexible so that it can be adapted to the lesson plan.
