This unit describes the various teaching aids that may or may not be available to a teacher depending on what type of teaching environment they may be in. Boards, visual aids, over head projectors, video cameras, cassette recorders and dictionaries are examples of these aids. Although some aids such as cassette recorders may be considered outdated in most standard classrooms they may still be in use in less developed or remote areas. IWB although perhaps the most efficient tool, due to their cost is currently a teaching aid which is being introduced slowly to modern classrooms. Regardless of which aid is available, teachers must be prepared for the use of each aid accordingly. For example the timing of a cassette to be played or training for the effective use of a IWB. Different teaching aids can be used for different phases of the lesson. DVD's for example could be used for the engage phase of a lesson, worksheets for the study phase and video recorder's for the activate phase to tape role play activities which students could observe after recording. This unit also provides teachers with a list of online resources to be investigated and used appropriately.
