Past tenses are very simple as it's considered as one of the most common tenses used in the real life, native speakers and bilinguals can hardly get wrong in this module. Of course, in Asia area, especially those non English speaking countries, students usually make mistakes in this area as they rely too much on present tense, to be specific, present simple. According to my observation, it is because in their native languages, they seldom differentiate tenses by generating various forms or structures of sentences, but, instead, they use prepositions. Thus, I think as a teacher, we need to put more attention on these students’ tenses to make sure they would be able to perform error-free sentences in the future.
