From this unit, I learned that selecting materials and choosing the right course book can benefit the students in many ways, but at the same time, it can also be a disadvantage for the teacher. By choosing the right course book, students will have materials ready for them to learn, they can feel prepared and have sources to look back to. It's also an advantage for teacher due to the idea that he or she has access to materials that can be use to teach in class. New teachers will not feel like they don't have materials to teach in class, they can base their lesson on the materials provided in the course book. The disadvantages in using course book are sometime the course book might be outdated materials and not updated with the current lesson. Course books are usually aim for the general public, so the materials on them are for everybody to learn and not aim specifically towards individuals. Course books can sometime be different from what the teachers want to teach for their class. If the teachers get to choose the course book then it is easy for them to understand the materials, but it'll be a disadvantage for them if they can't choose it because they don't know whether the course book is updated or not.
