In this lesson, I learn how to teach vocabulary by using the ESA approach - Engage, Study Activate. The straight arrow approach is appropriate for teaching vocabulary. Vocabulary teaching should be based on the appropriacy of the student and task, how often they are going to use it, and teachability. The Patchwork ESA structure taught in a previous lesson was a refresher me as it shows it gives flexibility in teaching as long as it starts with the Engage phase and ends with the activate phase. I also learn about how to introduce the grammar structure, and the different language functions and the ESA approach I can use when teaching them.
