From this unit, I learned that pronunciation is important when speaking to each other. Some words in the English language might look the same, but they can pronounce different. It's important to know the "sound" of the word because words can sound when we speak them. Students will have trouble with certain words without proper guidance. Phonology is the study of physical properties of sounds. A sentence can have multiple meanings based on how the speaker stresses each word. The word "yes" can be a sentence itself. Yes can be project as an agreement, or a irritable question. The sound that one projects indicate the mood that they're in. Phonology plays a role in expresses one's feeling. An answer can show different signs of emotion based on the sound that the speaker is making. The idea of stress is used to describe that particular emotion a speaker is trying to express. Native speakers tend to combine sound together for a more informal speech. Words can be condensed or shorten based on how the speech is carried out. The sentence will still be there, but the speakers will combined words together to make the sentence seems smaller. Pronunciation and phonology are important when it comes down to speaking and conversation because the correction pronunciation and the correct use of sound in words will allow the receiver to know and understand the speaker intention.
