In Unit 13 I learned about pronunciation and phonology. Pronunciation and phonology are very important for English learners to know because it is very important in communicating meaning, intent, and feeling to others. The unit also had mouth charts and the phonetic alphabet to use as resources and visuals in the classroom. Knowing how the body works to make sounds, raise/lower tone, and add stress to certain syllables is very helpful so you know how to better communicate your thoughts and feelings more clearly. The way we say things indicates how we feel, if we expect a response from our audience or not, and if/when we have finished speaking. Pronunciation and phonology are often overlooked in teaching, but it is very important to teach and there are many fun ways to incorporate teaching these skills into a lesson: peer dictation, visuals, tongue twisters, etc.
