This unit explains the most important parts of speech in English. It goes over the form, function, place in sentence and spelling of:
- nouns (common, proper, compound, abstract and collective, countable and uncountable) and their plurals
- adjectives (including comparatives and superlatives) and their order (size - age - colour - material)
- articles (definitive and indefinite), what nouns to use them for
- verbs, transitive and intransitive, infinitives, base form - present - present and past participles, irregular conjugations, auxiliary verbs
- adverbs, their categories (place, time, frequency et cetera) and where they go in a sentence
- gerunds and when they are used
- pronouns (personal, possessive, reflexive, relative)
- prepositions (time, movement, place)
- conjunctions (to join words and to join clauses of sentences)
