This unit is based on receptive skills.Here,we return to the teaching theory and look closely at the reading and teaching skills. We look at the importance of the reading and listening skills, the various techniques and activities associated with them. There are different skills needed for reading and listening successfully;the productive skill, specific information scanning, general idea skimming,detailed information, and deduction from content.I was able to understand that,reading and listening are not only matters of the ears and eyes but also a matter of using our minds to literally understand words and process them in our pre existent knowledge, to gain true understanding. The teacher needs to get the students motivated and engaged in the reading and listening task. This can be done by discussing the topic, showing interesting pictures.
