Reading and listening are how students learn to comprehend the new language that they are learning. Both skills are developed through practice, and both are equally important for students' language education. It is important to introduce vocabulary related to the reading/listening assignments so that students do not get confused, and this can be done either as homework or in a classroom setting. Being a good listener is critical to becoming a better speaker, and learning to be a good reader will help a student become a better writer.
