This unit deals with the future tenses and the difficulties of referring to the tenses, in an attempt to teach to students. Difficulties may arise in the understanding of future implications even in the present tenses. Referring to the present simple and present continuous and helping students understand that these have future applications could cause confusion in the early stages of usage. Confusion with "going to" and future simple are best dealt with when taught together so that students can see examples of the language side by side for clarity. Meanings such as using language from a future stand point and looking back at the past as in the future perfect, can be clarified through usage during the Activate stage of the lesson. The Activate stage could help alleviate students anxiety by the observing and construction of language rather than trying to understand the tense as something abstract from the language itself. Fortunately the nature of the future tenses allows students to use their imagination when in the Activate component of the lesson. Learning tools such as games of fortune telling, winning the lottery, or writing future diaries would allow the students to use the future tense in a way that could genuinely spark their imaginations and make the lesson fun.
