This unit, I learned about modals, phrasal verbs and passive voice. For modal auxiliary verbs, I learned the basic rules and what they express as ideas. For example the verb may, expresses a polite request, a formal permission or something with less than 50% certainty. I learned how in a sentence, these verbs can change the meaning and tone significantly from a polite request to a command, or from complete certainty to no certainty at all. I also learned about passive and active voices and how sentences are constructed in both ways- as well as the tenses and passive formations. The teaching ideas for this component were also beneficial to explain the difference between both types of voices. Lastly I learned about relative clauses and phrasal verbs. For relative clauses, there are 3 types: independent, dependent and relative. I learned which of these shows essential versus non essential information. With phrasal verbs, I learned how to operate the 3 Types and how I can teach them in a classroom setting, through using them over time in many scenarios and lessons.
