In Unit 20, the lesson discussed troubleshooting and how to handle problem situations in the classroom. It is important for teachers to fully understand and get to know their students. Teachers should know why students are in their class, what their interests are, why the need/want to learn English, and how the students learn best. The teacher should not immediately start grammar drills the first lesson, but play catch-the-ball games or icebreakers so the students and teacher get to know each other and establish rapport. The teacher should be able to handle a students if they are having behavioral problems and have them complete tasks or do things that interest them so they are not bored. Teachers should learn their school code of conduct and disciplinary procedures and always follow them in the classroom.
