Unit 5 has thought me that planning ensures that lesson has a direction. It is especially important with the inexperienced teachers. Well planned lesson will generally result in a better outcome for the learners. I.e. there is a goal of what the students should learn during the lesson and how will we get them there they get there.
I have also learned that the teacher should also be flexible and consider the needs of the class and not just strictly follow the lesson plan. What I have found really useful is the advice in regards to what has worked well and what not. This will help teacher improve the activities that didn’t go that well.
I also learned that it is very important to keep track of what topics/activities have been delivered during the lesson. This will help us reviewing a few weeks/months down the track , where we will be able to see what content has been delivered during each lesson.
