Unit 12 deals with teaching the productive skills of speaking and writing. Methods to encourage the fluency and accuracy are pointed out and at which phases we should encourage each, such as fluency in an activate phase and accuracy in a study phase. There should be, when speaking, a combination of activities such as drilling together with activities such as free role play to encourage both fluency and accuracy. Writing skills such as spelling, pronunciation and handwriting play an important part in presenting accurate work but students should be encouraged to write creatively in order to foster a sense of pride in their skills. Games play an important part in productive skills lessons for students of all ages as they are engaging and hold the students interest.
