This unit I learned about teaching special groups. I found this unit very helpful to understand as I will most likely be teaching younger children or absolute beginners. This unit gave helpful tips on how to teach some specific groups, such as children, individual students, business professionals and multilingual classes. For children, I learned the importance of keeping the classroom fun and energetic as a key component of success. I also learned some potential issues that may arise in the classroom and some ways to mitigate them through discipline, changing classroom dynamics and keeping the lessons interesting. I also learned that the challenges of teaching Business English, and the stark differences between both groups. For one on one or individual classes, I found it helpful to see how I can teach in a way that is interesting and dynamic to the student through guided conversation and non authentic materials. Overall this unit examined many different types of classrooms and addressed how to handle each one specifically and intentionally.
