This unit encompasses the techniques and reasoning behind how to teach and what to teach relative to vocabulary and grammar structure. This unit also identifies reasons for a learner to have ease or difficulty in learning vocabulary. This will depend on the word's similarity to the learner's native language, previously known English words, spelling, and pronounciation, as well as the appropriateness and usefulness of the word to the learner. The teacher must determine the appropriateness for the student's level of learning and tasks, frequency and coverage to the student, the teachability when choosing the vocabulary word and grammatical structure and the sequences of lessons.
