When it comes to choosing authentic texts to introduce the students to English. I think introducing them to certain poetry would be a good idea. Poetry is short and sometimes written in a creative way, and for beginners, wouldn't take very long to read and learn. It may be fun for them to then write their own poetry on a specific topic. I believe it would be important, depending on what nationality your students are/what country you are teaching in to become familiar with the popular culture in that country so you may relate students back to those interests but in English. It would be entertaining for the teacher too. If at the beginning of the course, the teacher gets to know the students and asks them their interests, it would be fun for everyone to have lesson plans based on these interests. It is important also for the teacher to speak clearly and properly so the students may learn to listen to a native English speaker. It's important for student's to feel comfortable listening to their teacher in the classroom so they may become comfortable outside of the classroom as well.
