This course unit, I learned about conditionals and reported speech. I learned the five main clauses, zero, first, second, third and mixed conditionals and how we use them. I found that the breakdown of form and usage was especially beneficial this unit as it helped me in being able to explain the conditionals in a way I was not able to before. I also found that the teaching ideas were helpful, especially the Chain Conditional game, as I find that would be very challenging but enjoyable for a classroom. The reported speech was a bit difficult to put into practice, as there are a lot of variables and number of changes with the verb tenses, patterns and pronouns, so as the unit said taking it slow is very crucial- even for teachers! I believe that using a similar chart to the one provided could also help students know how the direct speech turns into the reported speech and could be used as a stepping stone as students learn this material.
