This unit was an extensive look at teaching pronunciation. It covered a lot of ground, and included quite a bit of technical information, terms, and nuanced descriptions. This was a deep look at the pronunciation of every letter and sound in the English language, the places and manners of articulation, and phonics. Several methods were reviewed quickly, although not many examples were given. While I have never used a phonetic alphabet to teach pronunciation, it's good to know how it might fit into an advanced lesson or one where students are somehow familiar with that alphabet.
