Some tips for teaching students receptive skills:
1. Choose material that the students are interested in
2. Build interest in the material beforehand
3. Pre-teach any new/difficult vocabulary
4. Use a variety of material
5. Be sure to practice different skills with the material
6. Incorporate realistic tasks to help students understand the material
7. Use activities that are similar to the text
