In this unit I learned more in-depth on how to put together a lesson plan and what to keep in mind while forming a class curriculum. Although it is important to write down a lesson plan, there should still be room for changes to adapt to the class' needs. A lesson plan should be flexible and clearly outlined with the expectations for that class period, such as learner objective, anticipated problems that both the student and teacher may have, what materials will be needed for certain activities, and the duration of each activity so that I as a teacher can keep track and complete the lesson within the class's time limit. This unit brought together information from previous units and focused on taking what I've learned to construct my own lesson plan and understand what elements must be considered when organizing a lesson plan. It is also important to take notes during the lesson to keep track of what activities worked well and which ones didn't, as well as to keep track of progress and areas of improvement. A lesson plan is a guide and foundation, but is flexible and open to changes.
