Modal auxiliary verbs are used before other verbs to add meaning to the main verb, and they express a variety of things such as obligation, possibility, permission/prohibition, ability, or advice. Different verbs are used to express varying degrees of formality. Also, I learned that we use the passive voice in English when there are unknowns, when something is of low/no importance, or when we don't wish to say who exactly performs an action. Phrasal verbs are a phrases that include a verb plus 1 or 2 particles. They can be Intransitive, Transitive Separable, or Transitive Inseparable. They are challenging to learn, but they can be incorporated into the course lessons little by little over time to get students used to hearing the phrases.
