I agree with this lesson in many respects. I found that while course books are a good basis for teaching a class they can be rather boring and predictable. Supplemental materials are important to holding the students' interest as well as tailoring a lesson to a particular class. The use of authentic materials can be a great icing on the cake to show your students how far they have come. Created materials are key to keeping things fresh and interesting on a day to day basis.
