After completing the first unit of this course, I acquired some new knowledge and a lot of good insight on this subject. One thing I learned about was the language-level categories. Because I am studying a foreign language, I can relate to one of the categories. I also know a few people studying English who fall into different categories, so it was interesting thinking about it. Some good insight I received from this unit was how a teacher can switch from different roles during appropriate times in a lesson. For example, a teacher using the role of "manager" can be appropriate in some situations such as when explanations need to be given, whereas at other times, the teacher can organize groups and allow for students to work together to find the answers and receive helpful feedback. Overall, this unit was really well organized and easy to follow.
