according to this unit we have two different types of skills-receptive skills-reading and listening,and productive skills-speaking and writing.this unit focuses on the receotive skills. we have different reasons for reading and listening such as: for a purpose and for entertainment.But also , quite often our reading and listening may be a mix of the above two motives.when we read or listen we need to employ a number of specialist skills which our understanding of the context will depend on our expertise in these areas:
predictive skills, scanning, skimming, detailed information, and deduction from context. There are a number potential problems that teachers and learners can face which are mainly in connection withthe language contained in the text, the topic and the tasks the students will perform. Fortunatly, there are many ways of approaching these problems as following:pre-teaching vocabulary,careful selection of texts, interesting topics, creating interest, and provide compreghension tasks that promote understanding.
