This unit includes several aspects of the english language that are essential, and used often, but are tricky to teach. Modals, phrase verbs, and passive voice all have several exceptions. All of these concepts are not straight forward. For example, most of the modals have several different uses. Like "May", this can be used for requests, permission, and identifying certainty... that's a lot of different variations for one word. Passive voice will be difficult to teach because I must pay close attention to the different changes in different tenses. Lastly, phrasal verbs will be a tricky thing to teach because when used in different ways, they have different means. Also, phrase verbs are not literal, so they could be hard to grasp for some students. Overall, I can see how these concepts will be difficult to a new speaker. However, these concepts are essential and used often, so I will do my best when teaching them to non-native speakers.
