This unit has given me basic frame work for lesson planning focusing on new vocabulary, new grammar and language functions. In my current position as an Assistant Language Teacher (ALT) in Japan, most of our lessons follow a Japanese English text book called New Horizons. Whenever I plan activities with my Japanese English Teacher (JTE), I often plan for activities that involve exercising basic language functions and ALTs are only often utilized in stages of teaching similar to the engage and activate stage. This unit has now given me tools allowing me to teach other lessons I learn in this course optimally in areas I’m weak in. Areas such as study phases or teaching new vocabulary or grammar. I feel that teach grammar will prove to be a greater challenge to teach out of all the new language we have covered this unit.
