In this unit, we talked about how to pull materials to use in the classroom. We talked about the advantages/disadvantages of authentic and created materials. Authentic materials really push students and activate their interests, however they are more difficult to find for beginner students. Created materials are great because they can be tailored to meet the needs and interests of the student. Course books are good, especially for new teachers, because they give a good outline of materials to use. However, course books aren't tailored to individual classes of students and they can be boring to the students if used the same way every time. Personally, I think using a mix of course books, authentic, and created materials is the best way to create an interesting, creative, and organized class.
