Instructors should indeed plan lessons. They act as an aid to planning, a working document to refer to, and they act as a record. These plans should be loose, simple, and well thought out. They should be something that can be referred back to for key points in the lesson, not for a full lesson script. You should include learner objectives, personal aims, language points, teaching aids, anticipated problems, a procedure, the phases, the timing of the class, interactions, the class level, the number of students, the date and time, and the teacher's/observers names.
