In this unit, I have learnt about four different kinds of past tenses. Past simple: it shows action that occurred and was completed at a particular time in the past. for example: I cleaned my teeth this morning. Past continuous: It is a verb tense which is used to show that an ongoing past action was happening at a specific moment of interruption, or that two ongoing actions were happening at the same time. For example: I was studying when you called. Past perfect: It is used to show that an action took place once or many times before another point in the past. for example: I had studied English before I moved to Beijing. Past perfect continuous: It is used to show that an action started in the past and continued up to another point in the past. for example: I had been waiting there for more than three hours when he finally arrived.
