There are many different types of teaching aids and equipment. A few options are: the board, interactive white boards, overhead projector, visual aids, worksheets and work cards, the cassette recorder, CD players, videos and DVD's, video cameras, dictionaries, course books, resource books, photocopiers, computers, and online sources. When deciding which teaching aid to use, one should consider the various advantages and disadvantages that accompany each one. For example, an OHP helps to focus students' attention, it can model grammar and present vocab, and it can help the teacher spend less time with their back turned towards the class. On the other hand, OHP's can be complicated or difficult to use, the classroom needs to be a sufficient size to allow for effective projection, and the classroom may need to be organized appropriately.
