This unit went over parts of speech. Every word that makes up a sentence is known as a part of speech. There are 8 categories of parts of speech: nouns, adjectives, articles, verbs, adverbs, gerunds, pronouns, and prepositions/conjunctions. They do not all have to be used in a sentence, but it is important to understand them all in order to form complete and grammatically accurate sentences. There are also more subcategories in which to classify specific words. For example, nouns have 5 subcategories: common, proper, compound, abstract, and collective. Each part of speech can have its own unique subcategories to further help with word use.
