Unit 1 gave me a clear explanation about the qualities, roles and responsibilities of both teachers and students in the classroom. I also understood very clearly that I have to learn Chinese culture deeply to be aware of my students' customs and differences that could affect the success of the classes. Another very important aspect I have learned from the unit is the clear description of the distinctions between different levels of ability in the English language. And last, but definitely not least, is the question of motivation. Although only one of the common reasons to learn languages listed in Unit 1 might relate to my young learners, namely, "Out of interest in language", this paragraph reminded me how it is important to ensure that my lessons are enjoyable, interesting, varied and useful in order to maintain of build that motivation. My young students' motivation is to play and have fun with their foreign teacher; due to their tender age, they are not able to understand other motivation reasons. English is just a means for them to reach this aim. I hope to complete this 120-hour course successfully as soon as possible and start a 50-hour TEYL course to enrich my awareness in this field.
