This unit focused on teaching special groups. Certain aspects of teaching can and should be adjusted based on the make-up of the students. For young learners,a teacher will need to think about adding concrete items and a lot of visit interest. The lessons may be simpler but involve a lot of different activities. Young students may have more discipline and classroom management issues, but they are likely to be curious and can get excited easily. All beginning students, whether young out old, need to be taught with slow, clear, and precise language. Students need to be encouraged and shown that they are making progress. Another unique group of students could be business English language learners. They may or may not be motivated but would all be adults. A teacher needs to recognize the other constraints that the students, or clients, may be under. Homework may be more difficult to complete, as they will likely be working full time as well. A teacher should use as much authentic material as possible to let students interact with and learn from. Clients should be given the opportunity to express their desires for the class. A teacher should keep those in mind and aim to cover them if possible. The teacher needs to balance the desires of the company or organization and the clients' desires. A teacher also should be aware of blind spots that a learner might not know is there. A teacher should not try to do too much and needs to be ever-aware of the need to be flexible and to adjust lessons as they go. A teacher should be over prepared for every lesson and should not run out of materials or activities.
