This unit covered teaching beginners (absolute, false, adult, young, and no Roman alphabet beginners), individual students, children, and business employees. It also discussed monolingual versus multilingual classes.
I have only ever taught in monolingual classes, but have experience with all ages: young children (ages 3-4), elementary school students, junior high students, senior high school students, and even one business course with adults. Young children certainly are enthusiastic and willing to please, but they tend to forget everything week to week. A lot of time is spent reviewing and reminding them of what they studied the week before. In the business course I taught, just like this unit mentioned, there was quite a range of age, rank in the company, and English ability between the students. They also needed a lot of review each week, not because they hadn't retained the language, but because they were exhausted from a week of working and business trips and needed time to recall it. From this experience, I think that adult business learners and children require a pretty equal amount of review in each lesson.
