These two videos clearly demonstrated the difference between an effective and ineffective lesson. During the first lesson, the teacher's attitude towards the lesson and his students had a large adverse effect. By repeating "it's easy" often, he hurt the confidence of his students. They were less likely to take chances and make mistakes. In the second lesson, he used more gestures, pictures, and smiled at his students. this gave them the confidence to try.
The lesson plan in the second lesson also flowed very well and made it easy for students to progress with confidence. The Engage part was fun and something that they were familiar with. From there the students felt comfortable working the can/can't objective. The activate section at the end really solidified their understanding of by encouraging them to use it creatively.
