The unit 6 explains about the four past tenses: past simple, past continuous, past perfect and past perfect continuous. For each tense, it describes the form (affirmative, negative and questions), the main usages, common students mistakes/errors and some activities for the activate stage. By studying this unit, I’ve come the conclusion that the usage of activities based on illustrations and unfinished sentences are very recommended in the activate stage because it helps the students to practice the structure in context and to visualize the usages of each tense. Another important thing to do is to spot the differences of some tenses that may be confusing to the students such as past simple and present perfect, and past perfect and past perfect continuous. Besides that, the students may have some difficulties with the irregular forms since there are so many.
