This unit was about the Past tense. There are four forms of the past tense, and they follow the same sort of conventions that the present tense follows. The first form is the past simple. Regular verbs in this form usually add an -ed to the end of the verb; although, there are many irregular forms a learner needs to memorize. The second form is the past continuous. This form uses the past tense of 'to be' (usually was or were) and adds -ing to the end of the verb. This is for actions that were ongoing in the past. The third form is the past perfect. This form uses 'had' and the past participle. This is used to describe the past from another past viewpoint. The fourth form is the past perfect continuous. This form uses 'had' + 'been' + verb with -ing.
