This unit focused on the roles of the teacher and those of the learner. In order to be a good teacher, one needs to not only know their subject-area well but also, and most importantly, care about the learning of their students. There are many different roles that a teacher will assume during their time in the classroom. While different people may gravitate to certain roles based on experience and personality, it is important for the teacher to effectively use different roles when the activities and needs of the students demand it. Students come in all different ways- varied ages and experiences. There are motivations and abilities can be vastly different. In order to be a good teacher, a person needs to be able to assess the level of ability their students have and teach in ways that will help them grow in their understanding. There is no one size fits all in learning. Good teachers will make sure they are tuned in to helping their students learn.
