This unit focuses on the difference and EQUAL importance of receptive and expressive language. Reading and listening are receptive. There are different categories for why a student is reading or listening. Students read or listen for a purpose. They are looking for specific information. They could be skimming to get the general gist. Scanning for specific information within a large work and listening for detailed understanding are other categories.
Overall, this unit discussed the importance of choosing material that is interesting for the students while also working on each of the different aspects of language acquisition.
