On this unit I learned the importance of teaching productive skills. Speaking and Writing are productive skills used to communicate. Speaking requires a degree of fluency while writing is more difficult as it requires some degree of accuracy. Both are equally important. In an ESA lesson, there are 3 types of speaking activity a) controlled b) guided c) creative. Regardless of what activity I chose, I must ensure I create a need or desire for the students, make sure they have the language knowledge and use pairs in activities to allow interaction and reduce stress. In teaching writing skills, there are many differences, similarities. Despite of these the same elements as those for the speaking activity must be considered.
