Equipment an Teaching Tools
There are many benefits using some kind of teaching equipment in the classroom. These include helping learners improve reading comprehension skills, illustrating and reinforcing a skill or concept, differentiating instruction and relieving anxiety or boredom by presenting information in a new and exciting way. There are many useful resources that are found in a classroom and study centres. These include:
- White/Black board
- Interactive whiteboard
- Overhead projector
- Visual aids
- Worksheets and work cards
- Cassette recorder
- CD player
- Videos and DVDs
- Video camera
- Dictionaries
- Course books
- Resource books
- Photocopier
- Computers
- Online resources
So, there are plenty of resources available for both the teacher and the students', but how effectively they are used in conjunction with class work is up to the teacher and ultimately the students. For example, in my class I will, of course if its available use a white board as I believe that it will draw and hold the attention of students very effectively through writing, drawing, sticking pictures on and many more useful activities can be achieved through this resource. Additionally, interactive whiteboards are another useful resource, however I first need training before I can use that in my classroom. These interactive whiteboards can create visually stunning lessons, which I believe that students will like very much. Furthermore, I would also definitely use visual aids in my classroom if possible. As, I am a visual learner and find it very beneficial to visually see things when learning. Visual aids can illustrate meaning more quickly and effectively than through verbal explanation. They can attract the students' attention and help with the memory process. Furthermore, there are many more resources that I would like to use in my classroom which were mentioned in the above list.
