This unit discussed equipment and teaching aids. It is important for teachers to be familiar with the equipment that is provided where they teach. The type and age of the equipment that is available can vary so it important for a teacher to be prepared. Every classroom should have some type of main board to write on, whether that is a chalkboard or whiteboard. Boards can be used effectively to draw the whole class's attention and have something that the students can copy down to take with them. Beyond this, a teacher may have access to a smart board, audio equipment, tv/dvd players, or computers. With any technology, a teacher needs to learn how to use it and have a back-up plan in case it does not work. Students will enjoy classrooms where technology is used well.
