In this unit, I learned about Receptive skills. They are four productive skills which are reading, listening, speaking and writing. This unit looked at the receptive skills which are reading and listening. I have learned that we listen and read for two main reasons, for a purpose and for entertainment. Listing and reading for a purpose could be reading to achieve a particular goal such as reading a text book so that you can better understand a content for an exam tomorrow in class. Reading and listening for entertainment could be listening to a friend telling a joke. When it comes on to students, the right materials should be chosen for the right context.
