In this unit I have learnt different methods and techniques in teaching and I found them very interesting. These methods are: Suggestopeadia, presentation practice and production, audio-lingualism, grammar-translation, task-based learning, communicative language teaching, community language learning, the silent way and the lexical approach. They all tackle different ways on how to approach the students on which method should be used, based on their needs and levels. Most of all I have learned how to start a lesson or at least how should I prepare an example of a lesson plan through ESA ( Engage-Study-Active) It talks about how to make the students participate , how to correct them and how to check if they have absorbed the lesson/topic correctly. Further, I also learned that other than using a simple ESA methodology called ‘Straight Arrow’ lesson I can also prepare a ‘boomerang’ and ‘patchwork’ ESA lesson to make the activity less predictable ,more interesting and productive both for the teacher and for the students.
