This unit was focused on troubleshooting and discussed a number of common problems that teachers face. One of the first things that a teacher needs to think about is the first class they have with their student or students. How this first class is approached by the teacher can have a big effect on how well the class will go. Teachers need to think and plan carefully for the first class. The focus should not be on the course book, but establishing rapport and getting to know one another. A good foundation will make learning go much more smoothly. Teachers should be open in sharing some things about themselves but keep the focus on learning and connecting with the students. Teachers should figure out the needs of the student and the class before they proceed to a grammar lesson.
