In this unit we went over the importance of pronunciation, dissected it, and learned some methods for incorporating it into lessons. The phonology of English was broken up into sections on intonation, stress, and rhythm, and the phonetic alphabet was introduced. I wouldn't recommend using the phonetic alphabet for new students of ESL right off the bat, because the odd letters might be confusing to new students, but it could prove to be quite helpful for more advanced students who need help with their pronunciation. The mouth/head chart was also helpful in knowing how to position my mouth to make certain sounds.
