The unit 16 is about conditionals and reported speech.
There are five main kinds of conditionals:
Zero conditional: Situations that are generally or always true. E.g. If you heat ice, it melts.
First conditional: Likely results of possible future situations. E.g. I I win the lottery I will take you on a cruise.
Second conditional: Hypothetical situations. E.g. If I won the lottery, I might take you on a cruise.
Third conditional: Past hypothetical situations. E.g. If I had won the lottery, I would have taken you on a cruise.
Mixed conditional: Deals with the present results of hypothetical situations in the past. E.g. If I had won the lottery, we could be on a cruise now.
Reported speech: When reporting a speech, the verb tense, the pronoun, time expressions and other words such as this and here must be reconsidered. For example: “I will be here tomorrow” ==> “He said he would be there the next day”.
